What is an Adverb? A word or phrase that modifies the meaning of an adjective, verb, or another adverb according to their activity in the sentence . TYPES OF ADVERBS: Adverb of Manner : It tells us how the action had taken place. An adverb of manner will explain how an action is carried out. Very often adverbs of manner are adjectives with -ly added to the end, but this is certainly not always the case. NOTE: Adverbs of Manner answer the question "how' ? 1. She speaks softly . ( How does she speak?) 2. He quietly slipped away. ( How did he slip away.?) 3. She works fast . (How does she work?)
