1) Read the passage carefully and identify the points that will help in forming the summary. Examine the passage in detail, to make sure of the meaning of each sentence. 2) Make a note of the important points to be mentioned. 3) Supply a short title which will express the subject. Use your own words. Let the language be simple and direct. 4) Avoid using supporting information or giving examples unless it is essential.
