Determiners precede Nouns and determine the meaning of the Noun and modify them, which things we are referring to.. Main Determiners. There can be only ONE main determiner in a noun phrase. There are four different types of determiners in English: articles, demonstratives, quantifiers, and possessives . Articles Determiners: a / an, the ( A and an are indefinite articl es, the is a definite article) . Demonstrative Determiners: this/that, these/those.
