Difference between Adjective and Noun

  If an Adjective is used without a Noun, and article 'the' is before it in a sentence, then it becomes a NOUN and not an ADJECTIVE.   1. He is a intelligent student.   Ans. " intelligent' is an Adjective which describes the Noun man. 2. The intelligent study the books well. Ans.   A fter the word "intelligent” there is no Noun. TYPES OF NOUNS

What is a Noun?  A Noun denotes the names of persons, creatures, places and things. There are five types of Nouns:  Common Nouns, Proper Nouns, Collective Nouns, Material Nouns, Abstract Nouns . Let us understand these nouns in detail. A) Proper Nouns  :   A Proper Noun is a name given to some particular person or place and always begin with a capital letter.  E.g.  Anil, Tejas, Delhi, Sun, etc. B) Common Nouns :   A Common Noun is a name given to things which are common or similar in appearance and generally does not begin with capital letters.  English has basic types of words that is “Parts of speech”.    Parts of speech are nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, prepositions, interjections and articles.  It is important to be able to recognize and identify the different types of words in English, so that you can understand grammar explanations and use the right word form in the right place. Here is a brief explanation of what the parts of speech are:  Noun : A noun is a naming word. It names a person, place, thing, idea, living creature, quality, or action.
