INTERCHANGING EXCLAMATORY TO ASSERTIVE SENTENCES AND VICE VERSA.

 

 In order to change an exclamatory sentence into the assertive without changing its meaning, we have to add words like very, indeed, truly, great, and so on, to the sentence and we have to remove the exclamation mark.

Short cut methods to memorize the rules.

For Example:

1. What a beautiful house it is!
Ans. It is a very beautiful house.
 

2.  How beautiful the house is!  
Ans. The house is very beautiful.
 

3. If only I had studied ! 
Ans. I wish I had studied.
 

4. What a nice movie it is!
Ans.
It is a very nice movie. (subject + verb + a/an + very/great + adjective) 

5. What a genius cricketer he is! 
Ans.
He is a very genius crickter.  (subject + verb + a/an + very/great + adjective)    
6. Hurrah! We have won the match.

Ans.
It is a matter of joy that we have won the match. ( it is a matter of joy + ..........) 

7. Hurrah! I came first in class. 
Ans.
It is a matter of joy that I came first in class. ( it is a matter of joy + ..........)   

8. If I were a actor! 
Ans.
I wish I were a actor. ( If will change into wish

9. If I could fly! 
Ans.
I wish I could fly.  ( If will change into wish)

10.  Had I the beautiful house! 
Ans.
I wish I had the beautiful house.     (Subject + wish + subject + had + ....) 

11. Had I been a cricketer! 
Ans.
I wish I had been a cricketer.(Subject + wish + subject + had +....)

12. Alas! He lost the mobile!
Ans.
It is a matter of sorrow that he lost the mobile.(it is a matter of sorrow that + ...)

13. Alas! He failed in H.S.C! 
Ans.
It is a matter of sorrow that he failed in H.S.C.( it is a matter of sorrow that + ...)

14. Oh no! He don’t respect seniors.
Ans.
It is shameful that he don’t respect seniors.  

15. Would that I could be a Hero! 
Ans.
I wish I could be a Hero.

16.  Would that I could be a fighter! 
Ans.
I wish I could be a fighter..

17. How afraid some are to make friends! 
Ans.
 Some are afraid to make friends.

18. How shocked he was with the results! 
Ans. 
He was pleased with the results.

19. How little I think about it!
Ans.
 I hardly think about it. 

20. How uninteresting the number was!
