Dialogue writing.
Points for
effective Dialogue Writing:
1) Give an appropriate introduction. You have to write an introduction in brackets (Who is speaking to whom on what occasion.)
2) You have to use the names that is given in the question.
3) Understand the topic well and make points. Starting dialogue should be a greeting.
4) The dialogue should be realistic and interesting. Don't go away from the topic.
5) No unnecessary talks. Proper sequence of dialogues is important. It should not be lengthy.
6) You should use simple language keeping in mind the flow of the conversation. What speaker will tell at that point, that you have to think and write.
7) Use of proper tense should be there. Every speaker gets new paragraph.
8) You should use Direct Speech. You can also include
Questions and Exclamations.
9) All the colons should be one below the other.
10) Closing line should formally end the dialogue.
11) Write minimum five dialogues per person on the given topic. [ means five dialogues of both speakers]
12) It should seem a natural conversation and should convey the message. You can write dialogue in one page.
Example No.1:
(Principal is interviewing a candidate for a job of a teacher in school. Manisha comes for an interview.)
Principal: Good morning. Have a seat.
Manisha: Good morning. Thank you.
Principal: Why do you think you are suitable for the job ?
Manisha: Mam, I am qualified for the job and I have a passion for teaching.
Principal: What were your subjects in graduation?
Manisha: Mam, I have graduated in Physics Honours.
Principal: Do you have any teaching experience?
Manisha: Yes, I have teaching experience of seven years in St. XYZ school.
Principal: Well, then we may consider you for the job.
Manisha: Thank you, eagerly waiting for joining this reputed school.
Example No.2:
(Father and a son talking on ‘Career’).
Father: Now you have appeared for the Class XII exams, what are your plans for the future ?
Son: I have discussed it with my friends. I think I’ll do some course in computer.
Father: You should decide now about your goal in life.
Son: My main goal is to become a cricket player. Many players are millionaires.
Father: Have you ever played for your school team or college team?
Son: I have played many times.
Father: Well! There are many children like you who want to become cricketers. There is one chance out of thousand.
Son: But father, I love cricket, I cannot stop playing it.
Father: Talk with people who have studied and became C.A., Doctors. Be serious and decide a suitable career for yourself.
Son: I will think again but I cannot promise.
Example No.3: (Two friends discussing about increasing stress levels)
Nitin: Hi, Jigar, how are you?
Jigar: I am fine. What are you doing?
Nitin: I am going to this shop to buy notebooks and some picture for my projects. Teacher told us to complete math's remaining sums in notebook.
Jigar: Full week we have to complete the assignment given by teacher. I don't remember when I took rest.
Nitin: I feel so tired to get up early in the morning, get ready to school, listen to the teacher's lecture.
Jigar: Yes, then we have to complete school homework, go to classes and complete their homework, and now projects also.
Nitin: Yesterday I was having headache, so I went to doctor, he told me to take rest.
Jigar: I was also having the same probIem. Teacher should give us less homework.
Nitin: My parents understand my situation, but can't help it. There is competition all around.
Jigar: You are correct. My parents also understand my situation. You go and buy your things as we are talking for more than one hour.
Nitin: Ok, Bye, take care.
Example No.4: (Write dialogue between a student and a teacher on the importance of discipline)
Teacher: Good morning.
Student: Good morning, sir. How are you?
Teacher: I am fine, what about you?
Student: I am good. I want to know why discipline is always important.
Teacher: Discipline is the ground on which we sow the crop of success! Without discipline we cannot achieve anything in our life.
Student: How will that help me?
Teacher: If you are disciplined, you will do all things on time, you will study properly. It will help you to become a good student.
Student: But sir, being discipline is so difficult. I forget to do my homework, to keep things in proper place, to go on time to class.
Teacher: What you need to understand is that you have to change yourself day by day by doing things on time, keep yourself clean. It will become a habit. Your personality will change. You will become scholar in your class.
Student: I think that is a great suggestion. You've truly inspired me. Thank you so much, sir.
Teacher: Ok, bye. Take care.
Example No.5: (Write dialogue between you and a bank manager about opening a new saving account.
Myself: Good morning, Sir.
Bank Manager: Good morning, sir. How can I help you?
Myself: I want to open student saving account. Please advise me.
Bank Manager: Very good to hear it from you. You have to fill up a form and give us supporting documents.
Myself: Which form I have to fill?
Bank Manager: You have to fill Account opening form.
Myself: What supporting documents I have to submit?
Bank Manager: You have to give your school identity card, Aadhar card and Ration card photocopy.
Myself: I will submit all the documents along with filled up form.
Bank Manager: That will do. You have to deposit Rupees 100 in the bank. Tell your father about it and fill the form. Take the from from the counter.
Myself: Ok, Thank you, Sir.
Example No.6:
Son is going to play Under -15 cricket match with other school. Write a dialogue between Son and Father.
Father: Today cricket match is there at which ground?
Son: At Frances Ground.
Father: At what time match is going to start?
Son: At 10.00 a.m
Father: How long the match will be there?
Son: Approximately 8 hours.
Father: Have you done practice?
Son: Yes, From last one month we were doing practice of it.
Father: Play well and win the match. All the best.
Son: Yes, Thank you.
Example No.7: (Write dialogue between you and a farmer while travelling on a bus.
Myself: Hi Sir, Are you a farmer?
Farmer: Hi, Yes, I am a farmer.
Myself: That's wonderful. Where is your farm land?
Farmer: I am having farm land at Ratnagiri. I am having 10 acres of land.
Myself: Do you alone plough the fields?
Farmer: Yes and I have kept workers also.
Myself: How many years have been you farming? What do you grow?
Farmer: I have worked on my farm for 29 years. We grow rice, various vegetables and some spices.
Myself: What about your family?
Farmer: I have three daughters who are going to school and two sons. Elder son is working in big company and younger one is studying in college. My wife helps me in my work.
Myself: Good. Here my stop came. Bye.
Farmer: Bye.
Example No.8: Write dialogue between you and your friend about eating junk food and health issues.
Myself: Hi Ajay, How are you? Where are you going?
Ajay: Hi, I am fine here. I am going to eat pizza.
Myself: You are always eating junk foods, road side foods.
Ajay: I like these foods and are very tasty.
Myself: Good to hear that. But what about your health?
Ajay: I am young now. Nothing will happen to me. I have no health problem also.
Myself: Health problems will not happen now. It can happen after 15 or 20 years. If you eat daily, it will become a habit of eating junk food. Stomach problems, ulcer, diabetes and various problem may happen.
Ajay: What should I do?
Myself: Stop eating outside foods gradually. Drink fruit juice and eat fruits and home made foods. They are healthier. Your stamina will increase.
Ajay: Well then, I will try to stop eating junk foods.
Myself: Good. That will be beneficial to you.
Farmer: Bye.
Example No.9: You are stranger to a place. You wish to go to the B.K.C. hall. Write dialogue between you and a passer-by.
Myself: Hello, Sir, Can you help me for the address?
Passer by: Yes, Where do you want to go?
Myself: I want to go to B.K.C. hall.
Passer by: Take a right turn, go straight and then take left turn. It will take 30 minutes.
Myself: Are there any bus from here?
Passer by: Yes, you can take A-213 bus number from this stop. It will come after 10 minutes.
Myself: Where will I find auto-rickshaw? It's already late and I want to reach as early as possible.
Passer by: Yes, near to that bus stop, rickshaw comes after every 2 -3 minutes.
Myself: What should I tell that rickshaw driver for address?
Passer by: Tell him J.B.Nagar. Get down there. Anyone will help you.
Myself: Thank you, Sir, You are very helpful. Bye.
Passer by: That's all right. Bye.
Example No.10: Write dialogue between you and your father discussing the secrets of success in business.
Myself: Father, I want to become a big business man. What I should do for that?
Father: You can become a big business man. You should have many qualities like hard work, leadership quality, determination and many others. You should have good capital also.
Myself: What are leadership quality and determination?
Father: Leadership qualities means encouraging strategic thinking, innovation and developing others. Determination means taking firm decision.
Myself: Which business should I do?
Father: For that you should have a good business sense. You must see what is the upcoming business. You should do business of that product.
Myself: According to me Medical business is very good and ever lasting. Even Auto spare parts or hotel business is good.
Father: You have to study the prevailing market trends. You have to go according to these trends. Always remember that Customer is king.
Myself: Your advice is very good. I will definitely see it. Thank you, father.
